In the heart of Jena – the birthplace of the optics industry – you can experience optics up close. You can also view the largest collection of spectacles in Europe.
Experience five centuries of the development of optical instruments such as glasses, telescopes, microscopes and cameras in the Optical Museum. Test your own eyesight or be amazed by holograms and their apparent three-dimensionality. In the historic Zeiss workshop 1866 you can see how Carl Zeiss manufactured microscopes in the middle of the 19th century.
